During the fabrication and installation of steel decking, contractors and roll-forming workshops are often most concerned about two key issues: surface scratches during lifting and installation, and rapid corrosion at cut edges or punched holes when exposed to fresh concrete. ZINMAG® decking by Ton Nam Kim was developed to comprehensively address these challenges, thanks to its advanced Zn-Al-Mg alloy coating structure.

The first key difference lies in its surface hardness, reaching 140–160 HV—approximately 2.5 times higher than conventional galvanized steel (GI), which typically ranges from 55–65 HV. This superior hardness not only provides excellent resistance to friction, minimizing scratches during transportation and handling, but also enables smoother movement through roll-forming machines. As a result, ZINMAG® surfaces effectively control stress, preventing micro-cracks and coating powder flaking, even during deep profiling and embossing processes.

In addition to its mechanical advantages, ZINMAG® decking offers exceptional long-term protection for steel reinforcement through a self-healing mechanism. Due to the nature of decking applications—where materials are frequently cut and directly exposed to the alkaline and moist environment of fresh concrete—the magnesium component in the coating actively reacts to form a microcrystalline protective layer known as Simonkolleite. This layer acts as a self-sealing shield, covering and sealing cut edges, punched holes, and deep scratches.

By preventing the intrusion of water, oxygen, and other corrosive agents, this protective layer ensures long-term durability, even in harsh environments such as industrial zones or coastal areas, as demonstrated in real-world conditions in Khanh Hoa Province.

On April 22, 2026, at Thiskyhall Convention Center (Ho Chi Minh City), Nam Kim Steel was honored among the Top 10 Reputable Building Materials Companies 2026, according to the ranking announced by Vietnam Report in collaboration with Vietnamnet. The ceremony gathered leading industry players, recognizing enterprises with strong manufacturing capabilities, solid financial performance, proven market credibility, and meaningful contributions to Vietnam’s economy.

Amid ongoing challenges in the building materials sector—including raw material price volatility, increasing competition from imported products, and uneven market demand recovery—Nam Kim Steel has maintained stable operations. The company continues to enhance its industrial capacity, expand its distribution network, and strengthen its brand positioning in both domestic and international markets.

As of now, Nam Kim Steel Joint Stock Company operates a large-scale manufacturing platform comprising six steel production plants, equipped with advanced coating technology lines. The company offers a diversified portfolio of products serving both construction and industrial applications, including galvanized steel, galvalume (aluzinc-coated steel), pre-painted steel (PPGI/PPGL), ZINMAG®, tinplate, cold-rolled steel (CRC), and pickled & oiled steel (PO).

During the 2025–2026 period, Ton Nam Kim is deploying rooftop solar power systems across its manufacturing facilities, with a total installed capacity exceeding 8,200 kWp. These systems are expected to generate approximately 11,000 MWh of renewable electricity annually, thereby contributing to an estimated reduction of 7,300 tons of CO₂ emissions each year, based on the current grid emission factor.

The investment in and operation of rooftop solar power systems is one of the key solutions implemented by Ton Nam Kim to gradually reduce emissions and enhance environmental efficiency in its production activities.
